Press Release

Speche Communications acquired by Stenograph, leading provider of realtime technology

Madison, WI – March 25, 2002 – Speche Communications, Inc., a leader in the field of realtime streaming text via the internet, announced today that they have been acquired by Stenograph, L.L.C. Stenograph is the world leader in writing machines and computer assisted translation software for the Court Reporting community. Their realtime technology, and the reporting professionals that utilize it, serve as the front end, or input mechanism, to Speche’s streaming text technology.

“This is the ideal acquisition for Speche and our clients,” says Stephen Brand, President and Co-Founder of Speche Communications. “Stenograph brings stability and extensive resources to our emerging technology and their expertise in high-speed, realtime input serves as a cornerstone for our platform.” The accuracy of the text and the speed in which it can initially be delivered to the Speche platform is made possible primarily by the professional skills of machine shorthand reporters (Caption Reporters, CART Reporters, and Court Reporters). This synergy of technologies provides Speche with an unparalleled ability to efficiently deliver realtime streaming text to anyone, anywhere in the world.

Stephen Brand will remain responsible for new business development at Speche and the programming staff will all continue with their same responsibilities.  “The success of any business is always due to the people behind it,” says John Wenclawski, President of Stenograph. “Speche Communications is the leader in Streaming Text solutions because of their incredible staff. In acquiring Speche, we wanted to make sure that the most valuable assets of all, the people, would remain in place as we move forward to the next level.” Speche’s corporate office will be moved to Mt. Prospect, IL to share facilities with Stenograph.
